Responsibilities

Reporting to the ​Electrical Lead​ the ​Journeyperson Electrician​ is responsible for…

  • Adhere and promote the company's energy isolation, lock out tag out and safety policies
  • Install, examine, replace and repair AC motors, VFDs, PLCs, 600v and 416v distribution, 120/240v control and branch circuits, switchgears, transformers and relays.
  • Read and interpret drawings, schematics and have a good understanding of the Canadian Electrical Code.
  • Operate, examine and maintain a 138KV-25KV 80MW substation.
  • Operate, examine and maintain 25KV switchgears and transformers.
  • Bend and install EMT, underground conduits, pull armoured cables wires and terminate.
  • Pulls and terminate fibre optic and Network cabling.
  • Assists on non-electrical tasks when help is required.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment when required.
  • Able to work overtime and on-call when required.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include:

  • Minimum 5 years as an Industrial/Heavy Commercial electrician
  • High Voltage experience is desired
  • Exposure to working with and upholding WorkSafeBC and OH&S regulations
  • Availability to work various schedules and hours including evenings, weekends, and possibly night shifts
  • Must be reliable, able to take initiative and work as a team
  • Red Seal Electrician license
  • Safety tickets - AWP, man-lift, fall arrest
  • Pass a Criminal Record Check
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • FSR A or B an asset
  • Be self-motivated, reliable, flexible and proactive with an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor industrial settings; including adverse weather conditions and at heights
  • Able to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs (23kgs) and work in challenging conditions
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Operating equipment such as loader, skid steer, forklift and aerial boom lift considered a strong asset.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Pay: $33.00-$42.00 per hour
