Social & Community

Local communities

Setting up data centers to help build a sustainable future also enables IREN to have a positive impact on local communities in which we operate.

We partner with local businesses and community groups to offer support in the following ways:

  • Offering local employment and economic activity to communities facing financial hardship due to declining manufacturing or industrial operations
  • Providing funding for local community recreational infrastructure and volunteer groups
  • Partnering with schools and training authorities to develop programs to train maintenance technicians, network specialists and other operations staff

First Nations communities

We also look to partner with and support local First Nations communities where we operate.

We have supported the four indigenous Ktunaxa First Nations communities who are the traditional landowners of our first flagship site in British Columbia, Canada and we will work with the First Nations communities across all our sites to deepen the relationship in a number of areas, including by supporting employment and training opportunities.
