Reporting to the Data Center Technical Lead, the Data Center Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the physical compute infrastructure in our datacenter.
Reporting to the Data Center Technical Lead, the Data Center Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the physical compute infrastructure in our datacenter.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with datacenter safety protocols and best practices
Monitor server racks, network devices, and other compute infrastructure for performance, utilization, and issues.
Perform regular maintenance on servers, storage, and network devices according to standard procedures.
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems on servers, switches, routers, and other compute infrastructure.
Assist with hardware installations, upgrades, migrations, and other projects.
Document configuration changes, maintenance performed, and other relevant information.
Coordinate with vendors for hardware maintenance, and support contracts.
Participate in on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
Desired Skills include:
In-depth knowledge of server hardware, network devices, and datacenter architectures
Hands-on experience with installation, configuration and troubleshooting of compute infrastructure
Familiarity with monitoring tools, remote management, and automation frameworks
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized procedures
Collaboration across multi-discipline teams to ensure effective operations of people and machines across multiple datacentre buildings
A mindset for continuous improvement and innovation in data centre operations

Desired Qualifications
Relevant associate's degree or technical certifications, A+ is an asset
Co-op Students will be considered
Linux experience is required
Background in IT, computer science, computer repair, diagnosis, or software development or related field
Experience and/or exposure to datacenter operations and infrastructure management
Datacenter infrastructure certifications (CDCP, CDCE, etc.) are an asset
Other Information:
Starting rate of pay: $22 per hour (Co-op Students will start at $20 per hour)
Location: Prince George
Reporting Line: Data Center Technical Lead
Travel Requirements: Occasional travel as required across Canadian and US operations
Flexibility: IREN operates across multiple countries / time zones. Must have a flexible approach to work hours, ability to work nights
