Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT, the Cybersecurity Specialist is responsible for:

  • Define access privileges, control structures, and resource permissions to protect our networks and systems.
  • Monitor and audit system access to prevent unauthorized activities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify security gaps and implement necessary enhancements.
  • Upgrade network and infrastructure systems to meet security standards, including but not limited to leveraging Microsoft security solutions like Microsoft Defender, EntraID, and Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance.
  • Analyze logs, network data, and other attack artifacts to identify vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct customized application security assessments to assess asset risk and compliance.
  • Assess current security risks and trends.
  • Propose and implement strategies to mitigate risks and enhance system stability, utilizing Microsoft and other security products where appropriate.
  • Maintain secure network configurations, access controls, and encryption protocols, with a focus on Microsoft technologies like Azure AD / Entra ID, Conditional Access, and Microsoft Intune.
  • Monitor systems for signs of unauthorized access or suspicious activities.
  • Prepare performance reports and communicate system status to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve security objectives.

Desired Skills, Qualifications and Competencies include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education/work experience.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft (M365) suite of products, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), EntraID, and Microsoft 365 Compliance and Security.
  • Knowledge of programming and scripting languages such as Python, Javascript, and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, SOC 2, CIS, ISO, and SOX.
  • Proven experience in using intrusion detection software, such as SIEM products, IDS, and IPS, with an emphasis on Microsoft Sentinel and Defender for Identity.
  • Ability to quickly identify suspicious activity or security violations.
  • Certifications like CISSP, CEH, CISA, CompTIA Security+, CISM, and Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are seen as an advantage.
